Kayoum Mbamba: Rising Star of FC 93 and Comoros U23 National Team

Author of an exceptional season with FC 93, Kayoum Mbamba has a total of 19 goals in 26 games in U19 National. This makes him the top scorer in his group and one of the top scorers in all groups in the championship. Barely promoted to U19 National this season, the amateur club almost managed to achieve the feat of qualifying for the final stages of the U19 Nationals, but failed on the last day against ESTAC Troyes.

Nevertheless, Kayoum’s performance and consistency throughout the season have been rewarded. First by a nomination in the Paname Best Player 2023, a ceremony which brings together the best young people in Île-de-France by generation. Then, the FC 93 striker receives a summons for the first gathering of the Comoros U23. A successful rally for the Comorian striker. During the 3 matches played by the Comoros, he was a scorer in each match with a total of 4 goals.

An Ile-de-France route

Trained at AAS Sarcelles, he grew up and started playing football in the Paris region. Renowned throughout France for being a pool of young talent, it is in this environment that he forged himself. Indeed, the regional level is high and the attacker played on these grounds until he was 18 years old. During his years at Sarcelles, the Comoros scouted and selected him for the Arab Cup U20 2021. At that time, Kayoum was only 16 years old. He had his first selection against Iraq and then his first tenure against a much superior Senegal.

Last summer, the Comorian striker left AAS Sarcelles to play for FC 93. FC 93 had just moved up to U19 National. He seized the opportunity to play at the national level to face the best young people in France. This is his very first season where he plays in a national championship while he has always played at the regional level. In parallel with his season in U19 National, the former Sarcellois made his first appearance with the first team of FC 93 in National 2.

A sharp attacker

Kayoum Mbamba is a fairly technical striker capable of playing on the left wing. He likes to go deep, position himself on the edge of offside to emerge behind the defense and is not afraid of a duel. In front of goal, whether it’s an outside strike with the foot, curling, a chipped ball or a powerful strike, he will be able to adjust his finishing in relation to the position of the goalkeeper. This season, FC 93 is betting on him by integrating him into the National 2 workforce. The Comorian will have to earn his place in the team. Indeed, after proving his talent in the U19 national championship, he will have to face the highest amateur level of French football.

Concerning the Comoros, the selection has great difficulties at the center forward position. El Fardou Ben Mohamed is no longer very young. The question of his replacement becomes essential and his injuries confirm it. Adel Mahamoud has already been considered to take his place, hence his last calls with A. Kayoum Mbamba has great qualities and might be a possibility for coach Zerdouk in this position. Nevertheless, the mini-Coelacanth will first have to face the senior world before considering a selection with the A.
