Just before 4 p.m., the police state that one person has died in the car accident on the E45 between Masi and Kautokeino.
Operations manager in the Finnmark police district, John-Kåre Olsen, confirms that there has been a traffic accident on the E45 outside Masi on Thursday afternoon.
– It is a serious traffic accident. Two cars involved. There is major material damage and personal injury, he says.
Olsen says at 14:36 that the police had just arrived at the scene.
– We are working to clarify the situation, he says.
To NTB, Olsen says that the police do not know the cause of the accident, but that one car has driven off the road.
Vegtrafikksentralen nord informs on Twitter that the road north of the junction on the E45 Gievdneguoika is closed as a result of the accident.
– We have received a report of a traffic accident on the E45 north of the Gievdneguoika junction, and the road is closed. As of now, there is a detour via national road 92, Karasjok and Lakselv, says traffic operator in VTS, Erland Tretteskog.
