Kauper is taking part in an Estonian film, for which a new song has also been written

Last weekend, an adventure film for the whole family “Eriks Akmensirds” (in Estonian – “Erik Kivisüda”) was released in Estonia, in which Renārs Kaupers played the role of a pirate, and the song “Alive Again” by “Prāta Vētras” in English was chosen as the film’s title song.

The film is a co-production of Estonia, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland and Latvia under the direction of Estonian director Ilmārs Rāgi. Latvian producer Roberts Vinovskis (“Lokomotive Studio”) offered to join the group in the production of “Ārika Akmensirds”, along with the idea of composing music, Renārs Kauper was also offered a role. Cowper plays a modern day pirate named Versace in the film and even dyed his hair blonde to get into the role. “I really enjoyed the shooting process, especially playing such an eccentric and colorful character like Versace! It was also a great honor and privilege for us to create a song for such an amazing fantasy film. We all worked together on the song and invited our Swedish producer Powel Olsson. Of course, we also consulted with director Ilmars, so that the song was romantic and touching and reflected the message of the film, how important the support of a friend is in difficult times,” says Renárs.

The film “Ēriks Akmenssirds” is expected to be released in Latvian in 2023, but its title song in Latvian will be a duet of “Prāta Vētras” with a young Latvian musician. It should be noted that “Prāta Vētra” has already collaborated with the main film producer from Estonia, Rina Sildos, writing songs for the animated films “Lote from the Inventors’ Village” and “Lote and the Secret of the Moonstone”.

The video of the song “Alive Again” is directed by “Prāta Vētras” drummer Kaspars Roga. The video is available on the group’s YouTube channel, but the song itself can be heard on all major music streaming platforms.
