“Kauno Žalgiris” defended the title of Lithuanian Futsal A League champions, who defeated Jonava’s “Vikings” for the third time in the final series up to three victories in a full Kaunas sports hall, and they were left with silver medals.
The Kaunas team supported by “Green White Boys” defeated the players of “Vikings” 8:4 on Sunday.
Kaunas Žalgiri managed to start the match well. Janderson gave them the lead, David Reimar doubled their lead moments later, and Brazilian Wesley added a third on the stroke of half-time.
However, even before the break, “Vikings” managed to reduce the opponent’s advantage to a minimum. Taras Onufrak and Maksym Avetysian’s accurate shots did it.
However, very soon after the break, Wesley created a somewhat safer margin, which finally increased rapidly in the middle of the second half – in five minutes Kaunas Žalgiris scored as many as four goals and their lead increased to 8:2.
“Vikings” finished the match by scoring two goals, but it was not of great importance – “Kaunos Žalgiris” lifted the champions cup.
At that time, a little later in Gargždai, the decisive match for bronze took place. Gargždų Pramogos, supported by their fans, managed to win the minor final with the result 4:2 against the players of FK Saulės krašto.
