Currently, card payment is an absolute standard, especially in the Czech Republic. Fewer and fewer people use cash, because a simple beep at the terminal is simply easier than looking for the appropriate banknotes and coins in your wallet.
It was all a mistake
But various studies also show that paying by card also has a psychological effect. People who pay cashless expenses have a greater tendency to spend. Simply because they don’t have that kind of control over money.
The problem with card transactions is also that someone can take advantage of them and empty your account without authorization. Not that it happened this time in Kaufland and it’s not an intentional accident at all, but the case shows how little we have control over the card money.
In Kaufland on Monday 5th September, an error occurred on the payment terminals and it was normal for people to be charged twice. Some didn’t notice it at all, but others did and started writing what happened to them on social media.
The money must be returned
It turns out that Kaufland actually regularly deducted the payment twice. At the same time, people go here for relatively large purchases that amount to thousands. Mr. Karel, for example, made a purchase for three thousand, but six thousand immediately disappeared from his account.
Apparently, there may have been tens of thousands of cases where people’s money has disappeared from their accounts more than once. Kaufland faced this head on. She gladly explained the problem to customers on the help lines.
It takes some time to refund the wrongly charged payment, but they should all be credited by September 13th. If you’ve been shopping from Kaufland recently, you’d better double-check everything. With such a number of cases, it is not excluded that further problems will arise.
