The celebration of the 25th anniversary of “Pokémon” continues with the release of “Electric”, the new single and video by Katy Perry, whose love for everything related to “Pokémon” dates back to childhood, when she played the original video games. On his Game Boy, he created the track for “Pokémon 25: The Album,” which will be released next fall on Capitol Records.

“There’s no reason this life can’t be electric,” Katy sings in the song that celebrates the joy of chasing a dream; driven by the love and support of friends. Katy’s collaborators on this song include The Monsters & Strangerz and Jon Bellion – who joined her on “Daisies,” the song from her latest album “Smile” – and Bruce Weigner.

The official video for “Electric” was shot in Hawaii and was directed by Carlos López Estrada, who did the same in the Disney feature film “Raya and the Last Dragon” was released a few days ago on YouTube with a party for fans. The plot follows Katy and Pikachy as they take time to enjoy nature and reflect on how they have evolved over the years.

After a day of exploring, the couple stop at a lighthouse to meditate. Falling into a reverie, they are taken back in time to the early days of Katy’s career. Thanks to the support of her friend Pichu, Katy goes from playing in the street in a market to her first performance in a club.

“When I visited the Pokémon Café while on tour in Japan, I was very homesick. It took me back to my high school years. So when I received the call to be part of the 25th anniversary celebration with Post Malone and J Balvin, I was euphoric, “said Katy Perry, to which she points out:” the song’s themes (resilience, turn on your inner light) They have guided my life and are also parallel to the history and characters of Pokémon. Pikachu is the evolved form of Pichu, so in the video you see the younger version of me with Pichu and me in the present with Pikachu. We both evolved, but we retain a sense of joy. “

Colin Palmer, Vice President of Marketing for The Pokémon Company International argued: “Katy Perry has created a vibrant anthem to help us celebrate 25 years of ‘Pokémon’ with ‘Electric’, an incredible song about the recognition of personal travel and evolution. “We also hope that fans around the world will enjoy seeing Pikachu team up with Katy in the music video for” Electric, “which is a wonderful visual accompaniment to the inspiring song.”

A fun “Electric”-themed producer’s collection was also featured alongside the launch. It’s all part of P25 Music, a massive music campaign by The Pokémon Company International in association with Universal Music Group.
