Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s baby has arrived! To announce the good news, the couple chose an unusual channel and drew attention to the suffering of many children and families.
Singer Katy Perry and Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom have had a turbulent on-off relationship since 2016 – now a daughter crowns their love happiness: The couple announced via UNICEF that their baby had been born. The official Instagram page of the Children’s Fund reads: “Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honored to introduce the offspring of our ambassadors Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.”
The text is adorned with a black-and-white photo of two adult hands holding one small hand. A daisy can be seen on the 35-year-old singer’s thumbnail – matching the name of her little daughter.
UNICEF also publishes a few words from the new parents. “We are full of love and marvel at the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” it says. However, they especially remember those who are not blessed with a healthy child. “There is still a shortage of medical personnel in communities around the world, and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes,” they were quoted as saying.
The corona crisis in particular has intensified the problem. “Since COVID-19, the increasing lack of access to water, soap, vaccines, and drugs that prevent disease have put many more newborns at risk. As parents of a newborn, it is heartbreaking as we have more compassion than ever for struggling Parents.” To celebrate the birth of their daughter, Perry and Bloom have now launched a website that allows you to donate to mothers and newborns. UNICEF ensures that “every mother-to-be has access to trained health workers and high-quality health care”.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, 43, have been in an intermittent relationship since 2016. They announced their engagement in February 2019, and a year later Perry announced her pregnancy with her new music video for “Never Worn White”. Her single “Daisies” was released in May and her latest song “Smile” was released in early July.
