The Kattapana Municipal Corporation, which was demolished a year ago for renovation, has finally started roofing. Minister Roshi Augustin has sanctioned Rs 25 lakh from MLA’s asset development fund for the roofing work of the stadium. But even after a year, the works were not completed. After the tender process was completed, the first step was to demolish the stage in the mini stadium. Six iron pillars were installed but later the work was stopped. The situation was that the pole was rusting due to rain and sun. It was only later that the action was taken to paint. The work of erecting the self-roof over the fixed iron pillars of the stadium has now been carried out. The ordered and delivered roof is placed on top of the pillars with the help of a crane. At present, only funds have been allocated for roofing. So even if the roofing work is completed, the lack of stage will create a crisis. If public programs etc. are to be held in the stadium, the organizers have to spend money and build the stage. There is an urgent need to build a stage to solve it.
