Katrinis: Some have not understood why people left PaSoK – 2024-09-07 07:27:35

The candidate for the president of PaSoK, Michalis Katrinis, was in Rhodes, continuing his tour of the territory in view of the internal party elections.

“PaSoK is perhaps at the most critical turning point in its history.

For PaSoK, the decision that its members will make on October 6 is not limited to the election of a new President.

The decision has existential features for the future. Because no one can turn a blind eye to a grim reality, with a political system that leads the country and society to a dead end.

PaSoK cannot be part of such a political system. Because the way it is structured and above all the way this political system works, it does not address the citizens, it is indifferent to their needs and the citizens respond with a lack of trust towards the institutions and democracy itself.

From now on, PaSoK must make it clear who it is with and for whom it exists.

PaSoK joined a political mush of uniformity, where the differences between the parties are indiscernible, if not non-existent.

He distanced himself from people and social groups that were his natural interlocutors.

Some people act as if they have not realized what is the reason for the PASoK’s fixation on the percentages of a small and medium-sized party. They show that they have not understood, why have the citizens who were once close to us turned their backs on us?” emphasized the candidate for President of PaSoK.

Mr. Katrinis also pointed out that “PaSoK must become the catalyst, the party that will spoil the ‘soup’ that the establishment has prepared, and which cannot be eaten.

Some want to maintain the political scene of one and a half parties so that the country can continue to have Mr. Mitsotakis as Prime Minister, even if 61% of the citizens abstain, do not vote, because they feel that they are not represented. And in order to maintain this political scene, of absolute decline, PaSoK must remain in the zone of 13 or 15%.

In the elections for the leadership of the PASOK on October 6, I am a candidate because I do not agree with this role, with this image, with a PASOK that will flourish and aim for second place or with a PASOK that will be the government partner for Mr. Mitsotakis to continue to govern.

And because I do not accept this decadent and paralyzing situation, I believe that the PASoK of the next day must be connected with a subversive and at the same time redemptive initiative: the creation of a Great Front, a great party of power that will inspire, mobilize all creative forces of the country and will win.

With a choice of Rupture and Hope.”

Michalis Katrinis also referred to the issues of island policy, stressing: “For some, island policy is a slogan. For me it is linked to the idea of regional development, to a realistic plan to support life and the local economy in nationally sensitive areas.”

He spoke of:

  • Sustainable tourism development model.
  • Restoration of reduced VAT rates and a new framework for development aid
  • Island Areas Act.
  • Establishment and activation of an island fund.
  • Integrated water resources management plan.
  • Special demographic framework in island and nationally sensitive areas and special tax regime in islands with a population of up to 1,000 inhabitants.
