Katrinis: No case of cooperation between PASOK and ND – 2024-08-07 06:16:02

The candidate President of PaSoK, Michalis Katrinis, ruled out any case of governmental cooperation between PaSoK and ND.

“PaSoK cannot be Mr. Mitsotakis’ alibi and crutch. It is not possible to legitimize, through a governmental cooperation, the violations of the Rule of Law, the cover-up of scandals, the logic of cartelization of the economy and the dissolution of the National Health System”, said the member of parliament of Ilia, speaking on ERT television.

Michalis Katrinis spoke about the creation of a Great Faction, stressing that the autonomous course of PaSoK does not mean that PaSoK should stay away from political initiatives that will create the conditions for a Great Faction, a big power party that will also win the elections but and the trust of citizens.

He pointed out that the logic of entrenchment and the absence of political initiatives had been tried and failed. At the moment when ND and SYRIZA are collapsing and PaSoK not only does not win but also loses over 100,000 votes, we must look at the reality.

Answering a question about the fact that he is expressing the traditional positions of PaSoK while the elections are being won at the Center, Mr. Katrinis emphasized:

“This discussion is being conducted in technical terms, while I want and seek to be political, to have political characteristics. Do practices such as wiretapping, violating the rules of law, and covering up responsibility for Tempe represent a self-identified centrist citizen? Does the arrogant and extreme behavior of government officials fit into a centrist perception? As far as I am concerned, I have solid ideological principles. But I am a new man, a man of his time. I do not approach PaSoK with mnemonic characteristics but in terms of the future. The 80s are not coming back. However, in 2024 there are conditions of social injustice, marginalization, a regime that despises citizens, which must be highlighted. Mainly there is the need for progressive policies, which we must formulate and take to society in order to mobilize the majority of citizens”.

Speaking about these new, progressive policies, Mr. Katrinis said:

The creation of a State Company for the production of green and clean energy that will lead to a reduction in consumption prices.
The 4-day work without salary reduction and with policies and actions for free time.
The creation of an Island and Mountain Fund, which will be linked to the Public Investment Program and European resources and all included in a big plan for the regional development and revitalization of the forgotten Greek Province.
