With Katrin Zagrosek, the Ruhr Piano Festival will have a new director from 2024. The cultural manager and current managing director of the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart succeeds Franz Xaver Ohnesorg, who will not extend his term as director beyond December 31, 2023 for reasons of age. This was announced by the foundation and supervisory board of the festival on Monday, May 16, in Essen.

From 2023 already on the board of the Foundation Piano Festival Ruhr

As of April 1, 2023, Zagrosek will be appointed to the board of the Piano Festival Ruhr Foundation and to the management of the Piano Festival Ruhr Sponsoring and Service GmbH alongside Ohnesorg. Zagrosek, born in 1975, studied musicology and cultural studies and has worked for cultural institutions and festivals in Berlin, New York and Paris, among others.

Zagrosek, daughter of the conductor Lothar Zagrosek, was music dramaturge at the Theater Freiburg, production manager of the contemporary music festival Vienna Modern and director of the Niedersächsische Musiktage. Zagrosek has been the managing director of the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart since September 2018. Nothing is known about the future at the head of the Stuttgart institution.
