After several hours of action, firefighters brought the fire under control in a warehouse at Rzepakowa Street in Katowice. – There was a fire in the space where electric scooters were stored – said Capt. Rafał Gruszka from the State Fire Service in Katowice.
22 fire brigade and fire brigade units were working at Rzepakowa Street, where the fire broke out in the late afternoon. The fire broke out around 6 p.m. in a 5,000-square-meter warehouse. sq m, belonging to Farmacol – one of the leading distributors of pharmaceuticals in Poland. Huge clouds of smoke were visible from many kilometers away.
According to firefighters, the fire broke out in a part of the hall rented by Farmacol to another company that stored electric scooters there. The fire covered approx. 2,000 square meters. sq m
– The fire is no longer spreading, some troops have already returned to the base – said Capt. in the evening. Rafał Gruszka from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Katowice. He noted that the extinguishing operation would last at least a few more hours.
“There was no one inside”
– According to the information obtained from the representative of this facility, no one was in the facility during the hours when the fire broke out, no technological process was being carried out, no employees were inside, so there are probably no injuries – Gruszka said earlier. Adjacent to the hall is a four-story administration and office building. It was full of smoke, but there was no fire.
Firefighters do not even initially provide information about the possible cause of the fire. A firefighting expert will comment on this matter after the action is completed. Then the estimation of losses will begin.
A column of smoke over Katowice
