Katja Schuurman and her 13-year-old daughter Sammie are doing ‘okay’. The 48-year-old actress writes this on Instagram with a photo of her and her daughter. A week ago, Schuurman spoke for the first time about the sexual assault case of her ex-husband and Sammie’s father, Thijs Römer.
‘Me and my child. It’s going okay,” Schuurman writes with the photo. Earlier this month, Römer was sentenced to three months in prison and 240 hours of community service for misconduct with underage girls. The 45-year-old actor has appealed. Schuurman and Römer were married between 2006 and 2015.
Schuurman previously wrote on Instagram that she experienced “deep pain” from the events. “Within the sheltered walls of our home, all the conversations necessary to keep her faith in love and honesty intact,” she wrote. Despite the ‘deep pain’ that Schuurman feels, she stated that she will never let Römer fall. “I will do everything in my power to contribute – continue – to a relationship between father and daughter that is as normal and loving as possible.”
