Katja Schuurman after accusation of hypocrisy: ‘One big misunderstanding’

Katja shared a message on Sunday in which she said that ‘she herself could have made 180 reports of sexually transgressive behaviour’. Katja also emphasized that she thinks it is important that victims make themselves heard. ‘Stand up! Let us know! Let them know that what happened is not normal. Don’t blame yourself. Dare to speak. We are behind you! And next to you. And wherever you want. Because it must be ready.’

She also paid attention to the story about Job Gosschalk. In the part – which she has since deleted – Katja writes that she did not approve of Job’s behavior. “But it’s my friend,” she wrote. “I’m open to any honest conversation, with anyone, knowing that we can all get lost. You need friends to show you the right way back, to guide you.’ Katja’s statements came under a lot of criticism. Saskia Noort, among others, called her a hypocrite.

Katja says in a response to RTL Boulevard that she did not take it up for Job at the time. “If you think, have read, believe, that’s what I’ve done, I’m asking you to broadcast RTL Late Night, in which I read my carefully written letter on the matter, simply to watch. Facts dear people, no wild stories.”

“Of course I condemned Job at the time as a result of his behavior. I was very angry with him,” Katja continues. “He understood that. It is a big misunderstanding that I justified his behavior in any way at the time.”

What Katja did say is that she thinks it is ‘bad’ if people are ‘dragged to the village square’ without hard evidence. “We have case law for that. Although I am also very indignant about what facts (around the abuses at The Voice, ed.) has come out.”

Katja thinks the facts must be revealed. “So if you are a victim of perverse behaviour, don’t be afraid and report yourself. It can also be anonymous. And secondly, it is my belief that precisely when your friends make mistakes, and are completely off track and are very deep, you are there for them What’s friendship worth if you’re only there for each other in happy and easy times?”

Miljuschka Witzenhausen previously spoke out about the abuses surrounding The Voice. The news of the sexually transgressive behavior made her furious. In the video below she explains her position.
