The minimum wage will increase statewide starting next year and Governor Kathy Hochul is one of the architects of that change.
From a visit Saturday to a Brooklyn church, the governor said that starting January 1, no full-time worker should be below the poverty line.
Thus, minimum wage workers in the city and Long Island will see their wages increase to $16 per hour.
That’s an increase of one dollar from your current salary.
Workers in the rest of the state will see an increase of 80 cents, from $14.20 to $15 per hour.
This measure comes after the city recently approved a minimum wage of $17.96 for food delivery workers.
