Kantara which has made waves in Indian cinema since Kannada is in the 400 crore club. According to the data so far, the film has entered the 400 crore club. Kantara’s collection is 400.09 crore. The film collected 168.50 crore in Karnataka alone. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted it.
After RRR, KGF Chapter 2, Ponniyin Selvan 1, Brahmastra and Vikram, Kanthara is the sixth Indian film to collect 400 crores. The film earned 356.40 crore from India and 400.90 crore from abroad. Andhra, Telangana – 60 crore, Tamil Nadu – 12.70 crore, Kerala – 19.20 crore, North India – 96 crore.
The film is written and directed by Rishabh Shetty and he plays the lead role. The film tells the story of Kanthapura in the 19th century. The film is produced by KGF producers Hombale Films. Saptami Gowda is the heroine. Kishore, Deepak Rai Panaji, Achyut Kumar and Pramod Shetty are the other stars. Kantara is also the highest rated Indian film on IMDB with a rating of 9.4 out of 10.
In an interview with DNA, Rishabh Shetty said that although he knew Kantara would be successful, he never expected such a huge success and pan-Indian reception of the film. Rishabh said, “I never expected such a huge success. The concept behind the film, the conflict between human beings and nature is a universal theme. Since my story is deeply rooted and local, I thought which would be fresh and successful for the audience, but I never expected it to be so well received,” said Rishabh.
Kantara hits theaters on September 30th. After the movie became a huge hit, it was dubbed and released in other languages. It was released in Hindi on 14 October, Tamil and Telugu on 15 October and Malayalam on 20 October.
