Excited and with many expectations, the national teams were present at the Costa del Sol Stadium to carry out the official training prior to the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup 2024, an event in which Katherine Segovia and Laura Varela, from our Effort and Glory Program, will do her debut with the female Selecta.
Katherine, who for this competition will play as a winger, explained what it means to be part of the national team and that the coach, Elías Ramírez, has taken her into account for this new challenge that begins tomorrow with the duel against the Bahamas.
“I am excited and very happy because for the first time I will participate in this international event. Very surprised by the news that teacher Elías gave me about being selected as a Salvadoran. I know it is a high-level competition, but I trust in the work we have been doing with my teammates,” commented Segovia.
Agility and strength are characteristics that make Laura Varela a very important element for the Salvadoran team, since she will serve as a center. Varela, who will represent the blue and white colors for the first time in this competition, will also join the ranks of Puerto El Triunfo in the Beach Soccer League, organized by the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES).
“I thank God because he has given me the opportunity to be here and because they have taken into account the effort that one makes. Given this blessing, I am happy, very satisfied and, now, I will defend the national colors against the teams we will face,” said Varela.
The strategist of the Women’s Selecta, Elías Ramírez, commented on the work they did today during the official training prior to the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup 2024.
“We have done a very strong job with the girls, I hope they reflect this against the teams we will face these days. The work of this training was defining the throw-ins, corner kicks and set pieces,” Ramírez mentioned.
