The Regime: A Political Satire Miniseries
Kate Winslet, the renowned 48-year-old actress, recently opened up about her experience filming “The Regime,” a political satire miniseries. In the HBO show, Winslet portrays Chancellor Elena Vernham, the authoritarian leader of a fictitious European country. As her regime begins to crumble, Elena develops a twisted love affair with disgraced soldier Herbert Zubak, played by Matthias Schoenaerts.

According to Winslet, filming the raunchy sex scenes with Schoenaerts proved to be “so much fun” that the crew members, including the cinematographer and make-up artist, had to leave the set due to their uncontrollable laughter.
Chemistry and Comfort on Set
Despite the intimate nature of their on-screen relationship, Winslet and Schoenaerts felt at ease during filming. Having previously played lovers in the 2014 period drama “A Little Chaos,” directed by the late Alan Rickman, the duo had developed a strong working relationship and a sense of trust over the years.
“To be honest, Matthias and I know each other so we have a shorthand and a trust that we’ve had for over a decade,” Winslet shared.
