In Gilded Youth: An Intimate Story of Growing Up in the Royal Family, the author reveals how Charles’ eldest son chose a wife who did not have an aristocratic background. But before he could marry her, Elizabeth II’s team had to find out details about her fertility.
“Princess Kate’s fertility has been tested,” he wrote, making a surprising revelation about one of the conditions surrounding the pair’s 2011 marriage.
The writer points out that William and Kate’s royal marriage was likely allowed because of the “usual precautions” taken beforehand.

According to the author, Princess Diana went through the same thing before pledging her allegiance to Prince Charles in 1981. It is believed that she, as well as Kate Middleton, underwent extensive examinations at a particular hospital used by the Queen’s family.
