Kate Middleton is officially the new Royal Patron of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League. She takes over this task from Prince Harry who had to say goodbye to the job when he renounced the British royal family.

Kate visited it Twickenham Stadium to meet players from the men’s and women’s roster as they prepare for the Six Nations championships.
Kate was given the patronage of Queen Elizabeth after her brother-in-law previously took it upon herself. It marks the first time Prince Harry’s former patronage has been transferred to another member of the royal family since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex withdrew from the royal family.
The Duchess of Cambridge will become the first woman to hold the position.
She also took part in a training session on the pitch and expertly caught the ball as she was lifted high into the air – which she shared on Instagram.
“Fantastic to meet the players, staff and umpires who represent the sport at the highest level. I even put on my trainers to get a feel for how the teams train. I wish both teams the best of luck in their upcoming tournaments!” she wrote.
