Kate Middleton knows what photographers expect from her. Offering sweet love moments for great headlines is no problem for the princess. But what is enough for romantic photos often looks very different on video.
Windsor – “Princess Kate congratulates Prince William on winning polo with a rare public kiss! See the sweet moment”, or something like that is the headline of the day. Everyone agrees: so much togetherness has rarely been seen between Kate Middleton (41) and husband Prince William (41) lately. At Royal Charity Polo Day at Guards Polo Club on Thursday, Prince William and his team clinched victory in an exciting match at the charity event for the US Polo Association.

Gorgeous photos, Kate cheering on the sidelines, covering her mouth when it’s close, cheering when Team William make a move. Apart from that, she looks absolutely gorgeous in the Beulah crown flower dress (644 euros), slingback pumps by Camilla Elphick (363 euros) and casual Finley sunglasses (175 euros) with a champagne glass in hand. Her shiny brown mane, like her dress, blows in the breeze across the polo field as Prince William walks from the stands to the awards ceremony, hugs his wife, who kisses him left and right on the cheek, and rubs his arm.

With so much romance involved, the couple can rest assured that the tills will ring for a good cause. Accompanying the pretty pictures, the couple posted the words of thanks on Instagram: “A big thank you to everyone who attended the Charity Polo Cup today and helped us raise money that is having such a significant impact on things that we do on hearts lie. Over the years this event has raised more than £12m (€14m) with the beneficiaries being our friends”. Below is a list of recipients of donations.
How much affection does protocol allow among royals?
Royal etiquette expert Myka Meier, founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette, speaks to People on the subject. She explains that there are no formal rules for romantic gestures between royal couples in public – it’s up to her own discretion.
“Elderly members of the royal family are unlikely to be dictated to how they should interact or when they may or may not show PDA (public display of affection). You can trust them to adjust their behavior accordingly. “Royals often adapt their demeanor to the formality of the event they are attending.” We’re less likely to see PDA at a more somber or more formal event than at a casual event where tokens of love are welcome.
With all her professionalism, does Kate Middleton manage to ensure that romance is not neglected?
The scene just described, which correspondent Simon Perry for People made available on Instagram is a little different. After the double kiss, William goes straight to the trophy handover. The whole act of kissing is over in ten seconds, everyone has what they need. At least Kate has been delivering strong performances in the league for three days. On July 4th Kate Middleton with tennis legend Roger Federer (41) attracted everyone’s attention in the Royal Box of Wimbledon, on July 5th she was the eye-catcher at the second coronation of King Charles’ (74) and Camillas (75 ) at the handover of the Scottish Crown Jewels in Edinburgh and a day later she enchanted the media with the declaration of love at the polo tournament in Windsor.
