As for the photo in the red outfit, Middleton “looks a little more glamorous” on it. Roversi added that he wanted to make the portraits as modern as possible, so he used only natural light, a little makeup and natural styling.
Only a small part of the holiday shots has been made public. There is also a photo of Kate dancing. “I wanted to shoot on the move, so with this wonderful wide skirt I made her dance in front of my camera, a kind of fast-paced waltz mixed with a pinch of rock and roll,” Paolo said.
The portraits are known to be part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, of which Kate is the patroness. Ahead of reopening in 2023, the photographs will be part of the Homecoming Project, a nationwide initiative that takes portraits of famous people to places with which they are closely associated.
The new photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge will be on display at three locations that are of particular importance to Kate: Berkshire, St Andrews and Anglesey. In Berkshire, the future duchess grew up, at St Andrews University she met Prince William, and on the Isle of Anglesey (located in northwest Wales) the Dukes of Cambridge lived after their wedding.
