Britain’s Princess Kate attended a Remembrance Day event in London yesterday after undergoing prophylactic cancer treatment this year, Reuters reported, citing BTA.
Kate arrived at the event at London’s Royal Albert Hall wearing a black dress adorned with a red poppy, which has become a symbol of respect for those who have lost their lives in conflict.
She was accompanied by her husband William and other members of the royal family, followed shortly afterwards by King Charles, whose wife, Queen Camilla, canceled her engagements as she recovers from a chest infection.
The Princess of Wales said in September that she had finished chemotherapy, but the road to a full recovery would be long. At the time, the 42-year-old princess said she would hold several public engagements later in the year.
Her last public appearance was in October when she met the grieving families of three young girls who were stabbed to death in North West England.
But on Friday, Britain’s Crown Prince William said the past year had been possibly the hardest of his life after both his father, King Charles III, and his wife, Kate, were diagnosed with cancer.
Speaking to British media at the end of his visit to South Africa, the crown prince shared how he managed to balance his duties as a royal with time for his family.
Asked how his year had been, William replied: “Honestly? It was terrible. It was probably the hardest year of my life.”
“I’m so proud of my wife, I’m so proud of my dad, for handling things,” William added. “But from a personal family point of view it was brutal,” he admitted.
