Katarzyna Niewiadoma retains the lead in the general classification after the seventh stage of the Tour de France Femmes. The Polish rider of Canyon//SRAM had to leave a gap to Demi Vollering in the final meters, but looks back positively on the stage. “It was a good day, we had everything under control”, she says afterwards.
“We had it well under control, the team took good care of me today. I felt the peloton getting a bit tired, so the pace dropped. That was to my advantage,” says the yellow jersey wearer.
Main competitor Vollering drew a different conclusion about the leader of the classification. She indicated afterwards that she had succeeded in making Niewiadoma nervous. “Oh, she said that? Interesting! If that is really the case: that’s life (that’s life, ed.)!“, the Polish woman responded.
The final day
“Everyone is looking forward to tomorrow. We worked on my endurance, so hopefully I can finish it tomorrow,” says the winner of the most recent Walloon Arrow. “I want to start the Alpe d’Huez relatively fresh and then we’ll go for it!”
