The President of the Republic has issued a decision on the release of the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador from the post of head of mission abroad – reads the latest Hungarian Gazette.
This was stated on the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Attila Pintér – in addition to recognizing his merits – Katalin Novák relieves him of his post of managing the Hungarian Embassy in Belgrade.
The reasons are not mentioned in the decision, but it turns out that the decision was not made now, but on September 29th. Péter Szijjártó’s countersignature took place on 5 October.
Attila Pintér served in Belgrade for eight years and has recently announced his departure several times. Given to Magyar Szo in an interview in mid-September, he said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade had asked him to continue working in Istanbul.
For me this is a favorable decision, as in addition to having completed a Turkish course, I also speak the language. I thanked you for sending me to a place that is very close to me.
He stated that he is looking forward to the new challenge, as Turkey is becoming more and more important for Hungarian foreign policy, and it is also evident that the importance of Istanbul is growing.
