Kat Kerkhofs fully reveals herself: “This is the first time”

Kat Kerkhofs has been a famous face on television lately, and her participation in the program Over De Ocean shows her even more than ever. The famous presenter and the wife of the footballer Dries Mertens reveals that the cameras are always present, so you have no choice but to show yourself.

In conversation with Television family Kat says this experience has stirred up a lot of emotions, especially about the loss of her father. “There are several moments in the show where I feel very vulnerable, especially when I talk about my father’s death. This is the first time the viewer has seen me like this, and it feels very exciting,” she admits.

However, her husband Dries Mertens, the Belgian soccer player, is not surprised by this side of Kat. “We have been together for almost twenty years, and we are still very happy. We really are a strong team, both for ourselves and for our son Ciro,” says Kat.

In gesprek met Tv Familie vertelt Kat dat deze ervaring heel wat emoties heeft losgemaakt, met name over het verlies van haar vader. “Er zitten een aantal momenten in de show waar ik me erg kwetsbaar opstel, vooral wanneer ik praat over de dood van mijn papa. Dit is de eerste keer dat de kijker mij op die manier ziet, en dat voelt behoorlijk spannend”, geeft ze toe. Toch beschouwt ze het als een waardevolle ervaring om haar emoties te delen met een groot publiek.

Haar echtgenoot Dries Mertens, de Belgische voetballer, is echter niet verrast door deze kant van Kat. “We zijn al bijna twintig jaar samen, en we zijn nog steeds heel gelukkig. We vormen echt een sterk team, zowel voor onszelf als voor onze zoon Ciro”, zegt Kat. De twee hebben door de carrière van Dries veel in het buitenland gewoond, wat hen geholpen heeft om een sterke band op te bouwen.
