news-id-112717" style="display:inline;">How informs The press service of the President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev drew attention to the appeal of a resident of the Munailinsky district of the Mangistau region about the lack of fresh water.

The head of state instructed the government and the akimat of the region to solve this problem as soon as possible.

According to the government, today water shortage in the region is one of the most serious problems.
The shortage of drinking water, which is about 77,200 cubic meters per day, is especially acute in the summer.

As noted in Akorda, a difficult situation is developing in the Munailinsky district. Currently, in connection with the repair of a failed pumping unit at the desalination plant “Kaspiy”, the water supply to the region has decreased from 13,000 cubic meters per day to 10,000 cubic meters per day.

“Explanatory work is being carried out among the residents of the district. For a phased solution of the issue in the region, the construction of desalination plants and installations is underway. Taking into account the annual population growth, there is a need to increase the capacity of the Caspian desalination plant by 20,000 cubic meters per day, which will increase the supply to 40,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day,” Akorda said in an official statement.

The press service of the President recalled that earlier it was decided to allocate 5.6 billion tenge from the government reserve for the Mangistau region.

The service organization for the water supply of the Munailinsky district is the Mangistau Zhylu State Enterprise. Due to the shortage of drinking water, the Mangistau Zhylu State Enterprise delivers water to the population through the water pipeline in accordance with the schedule. Water is also brought by water carriers at the request of the residents of the district.

The implementation of the project to increase the capacity of the desalination plant “Kaspiy” to 40,000 cubic meters per day will provide the population of the villages of the Munailinsky district and the village of Kuryk of the Karakiyansky district with uninterrupted water supply and fully cover the existing deficit, they say in Akorda.
