The signs are pointing to a storm: Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider is expected to announce the average health insurance premiums for 2025 on Thursday, September 26, 2024. One cost driver that should not be ignored: laboratory costs. “Kassensturz” reveals how medical laboratories pay out millions to doctors. One reason: medical practices should have as many laboratory tests done by them as possible – and thus ensure greater sales. How do laboratories justify such kickbacks? And what do doctors say about the accusation that they simply pocket them? “Kassensturz” also asks budget experts how personal health insurance costs could be optimized.
Test «Costs for credit and debit cards» – Save when paying
Credit and debit cards are commonplace as a means of payment. But with annual card fees, foreign currency fees, transaction surcharges, etc., they can quickly cost a lot of money. Especially when using the card abroad. “Kassensturz” therefore had 20 different credit and 19 different debit cards tested to see how expensive they were. The results are astonishing: in some cases, there was a difference of over 200 francs for exactly the same transactions. The only difference is the card.
