The president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, takes a clear position regarding the vote on the marriage of same-sex couples in Parliament and the positive vote he expects from his party’s MPs.
At the same time, of course, there is no shortage of disagreements, such as that of the SYRIZA-PS super-sector leader, Pavlos Polakis. On the other hand, SYRIZA is one of the parties that submitted a request for a roll call vote.
According to the Political Secretariat of the party, Yannis Ragousis directly asked Stefanos Kasselakis what will happen, in case a member of the party decides to either vote against the bill, or even to abstain.
The answer from the president was clear: “There will be consequences.”
Ragousi’s objections to the proposal to postpone the elections of new bodies
Yiannis Ragousis was also appointed for a series of internal party issues concerning the operation of SYRIZA on the way to the conference.
“The proposal to postpone the elections of the bodies is a very negative development. It is a very bad image for the party to postpone pan-Hellenic elections, just three days before they are to be held. I am in favor of holding electronic voting as well, with the self-evident condition that they will be invariable,” he said.
And he added: “If a decision to postpone is made at the last minute, then an apology should be made to the thousands of members and executives throughout Greece, who did their utmost to meet deadlines that had been set, but who, unfortunately, ultimately will not apply. The consequences of postponing the election of new bodies for a month will be serious. Essentially, we will lose one month out of the four we have before the European elections, where the backbone of the party throughout Greece will be in an extremely problematic situation.”
