A new intervention was made by Stefanos Kasselakisfocusing on the message of 80-year-old left-wing activist Sotiris Tsiakmakis, who in protest of what happened at the conference asked to be deleted from SYRIZA-PS.
In a post on social media, Stefanos Kasselakis expressed his regret, said he was shocked and published a message he received from the activist who had an anti-dictatorship action and was imprisoned during the Junta. On the evening of Monday, November 11, 2024, Stefanos Kasselakis mentioned the following in his post:
“We have before us the hope of the new.
But I know that thousands of citizens are bitter about the self-humiliation of the party they believed in. A deep mourning for the end of humanity in SYRIZA – PS.
Personally, I was shocked by an email. By fighter Sotiris Tsiakmakis. Struggles, imprisonments, offering to the Left and the country.
Now, in his 80s, he writes to the party he supported, asking for its deletion:
” On Friday 8/11, I experienced little people trampling my dreams, my hopes and my struggles with thuggish, almost fascist methods. I was 6 hours standing outside crammed, with four balloons, and not being able to get in, when you were alerting your friends to go from the basement with password and password, enter and take the VIP seats to form the fake majority of shame .
When I entered, you sent me “to the outermost fire”, to isolation, which I had experienced during the years of the Junta, but I also faced this with stoicism”.
As a member of the party up until that moment, I want to humbly apologize to this man for the suffering and pain he endured in order to support – as he had throughout his life – the Republic.
Such people beside us restore the word “companion” and do not give it to those who have apostatized from their souls.
