“It’s time to stay,” clarifies Stefanos Kasselakis in an interview he gave to the newspaper “Nea Savvatokyriako”, pointing out that “there is nothing anyone can do, except the very base of the party, to make me leave”.
Its president SYRIZA-PS to a question about the European elections in June, he said that he wants the big upheaval to take place.
“I am doing something that has never been done before in the country: instead of me deciding the ballot, I am saying to the members and friends of the party ‘you decide who you want to be the progressive people who will represent the party.’ For those who think my decisions are arbitrary, the opposite is true. I am completely moderate as the president of the party”, noted Stefanos Kasselakis.

What will he do in case of low performance of SYRIZA in the European elections
To a question about whether he will resign in the event that the main opposition party has a very low percentage and a third party emerges, the president of SYRIZA-PS replied:
“No. And also it won’t have (s.s.: very low percentage) and it won’t be (s.s.: third party)”.
Regarding the national elections and a question he received about “if you will lead SYRIZA in the national elections?” the president of SYRIZA-PS replied:
“That’s my role. If I had been elected only for the European elections, they would have told me before I stepped down as party president!”
Stefanos Kasselakis was also asked about the fact that he is the president of SYRIZA-PS but not an MP and about whether he will ask a State MP to leave in order to take his place.
“There is no way for me to ask a member of parliament who was the choice of Alexis Tsipras to resign. This is unethical. If this is done for other reasons, obviously I consider it appropriate that I be in the Parliament as a party leader, since such an opportunity would be given”, pointed out the president of SYRIZA-PS.
