“The time has come for the Greek state to become interventionist, efficient and to solve the great problems of the Greek people” said the president SYRIZA – PS Stefanos Kaselakisat the beginning of the meeting with the productive bodies in Heraklion.
Mr. Kasselakis stated that in this direction “the European elections are the trigger, for the alternative progressive solution that the country is asking for, with a renewed SYRIZA, with a group that will be able to demonstrate empathy, moral and technocratic competence”.

Referring to indirect taxes, Mr. Kasselakis said: “Our country is second only to Sweden in the payment of indirect taxes” and that at the same time the “quality of services provided by the Greek government does not correspond to this cost”.
Regarding energy, the president of SYRIZA – PS and specifically regarding wind turbines emphasized that what is being promoted is “wind turbines for the few”, commenting on reactions expressed by local communities. “We want a green transition and quickly, but with the consent of the local communities” said Mr. Kasselakis and referring to the expensive energy he noted that “Let the government legislate, let’s put a ceiling of 5% on electricity, so that profiteering can be crushed” . And he added that “the VAT on basic goods must be reduced to 0% in order to reduce the rate of impoverishment of the Greek citizen and to reduce the special fuel tax to the reduced rate allowed by the European Union. It is not possible in our country for gasoline refined in Greece to be sold more expensively than the same gasoline in Cyprus.”
Field-to-shelf oligopoly
To be precise, Stefanos Kasselakis stated that “it is not possible to have an oligopoly from the field to the shelf, where the farmer is unable to survive and the citizen is unable to consume” further commenting that the medium businessman, within this context and with the “Greek banks that have been recapitalized so many times by the Greek citizen” is unable to have elementary liquidity.
“It cannot have liquidity, when the banks of Greece, which have been recapitalized by the Greek taxpayer so many times, are among the most profitable in Europe. With high transaction fees, zero interest rates on deposits. This is a mockery with a neoliberal wrapper,” said Stefanos Kasselakis, while adding that “the world should know that the new SYRIZA without any qualms is in favor of open markets.”
“To tell you on a personal level, that I understand business, development and finances, better than the rulers” with the aim of a good administration of the country, as the SYRIZA government did in the midst of memorandums, but next time with open markets, with labor rights, with a social state, with transparency and with a welfare state”.
In addition, the president of SYRIZA – PS said among other things: “We are the last country in the European Union in private investments” and that “this is what New Democracy calls stability and a realistic government proposal. If this is stability and a realistic government proposal, we are missing the cherry” said Stefanos Kasselakis who noted that “there is an alternative solution for businessmen” and that this proposal includes, among other things, the abolition of the advance payment of income tax which he called an “unfair Greek patent” .
At the same time, the president of SYRIZA – PS added that for those businesses that have a profit of less than 220,000 euros, their proposal is to pay only 17% income tax and with a profit of more than 220,000 euros to pay 24%.
Mr. Kaselakis, addressing the productive bodies of Heraklion, also referred to the so-called vicious circle, as he said, created by the inability of an entrepreneur to hire workers, due to the contributions and at the same time there is an exploitation regime for the workers themselves.
Regarding Crete, Stefanos Kasselakis said that as his homeland it has a “special place in his heart”, adding however that in addition to this connection, but also the connection with the cinematic races “it faces many issues, despite the fact that it is a more robust island in relation to other islands in the territory. It has 7% of the population and contributes 14% to the national GDP, but at the same time it lacks in basic infrastructure”. Immediately after, Mr. Kasselakis will tour the main streets of the city.
