Kassel Huskies today at EHC Freiburg

Kassel – The Kassel Huskies continue. As runner-up in the DEL2 table, she’s going to the third-placed EHC Freiburg today (7.30 p.m.).

Kassel – Less than 48 hours after the 4: 1 success at ESV Kaufbeuren, the second division ice hockey team is again on a long bus trip: “Both want to stay at the top of the table. Freiburg had a fantastic start to the season and is extremely productive in attack, ”says Huskies trainer Tim Kehler, who is expecting a difficult task.

Defender Stephan Tramm wants to play an important role again today. The 22-year-old shot his team with two slap shots to win 2-1 and 3-1 in Kaufbeuren on Sunday evening. Once Lois Spitzner put on him, once Joel Keussen. “Before the game, I showed Lois a video where he didn’t play in precisely such a situation. That worked out really well, ”says Tramm, who hit Dresden on matchday five with a slap shot. There, too, exactly this move was rehearsed and discussed with Moritz Müller, who has meanwhile returned to Cologne, before the game. “We practice this almost every day for 20 minutes after training,” says Tramm.

Tramm used to be a striker himself

He himself used to be a striker and scored 30 times in 28 games in the school league for Berlin. “After that, I was retrained to become a defender, and that works pretty well,” says Tramm with a laugh. After four goals in the preseason he is now three goals from the first twelve games. “Stephan deserves a lot of appreciation for his progress,” praised Kehler.

Tramm attributes the fact that the huskies in Kaufbeuren were focused on the point even after the historic 7-0 derby win against Frankfurt: “He warned us of Kaufbeuren’s strength in a duel right after the derby. The clocks were quickly set back to zero. ”That paid off. The huskies in Bavaria now played as if they were permanently outnumbered – they let the puck and opponent run, settled for minutes in the third of the hosts.

“We are not a magic team”

“We’re not a magic team. But if we work hard, we are a top team, ”says Tramm. The fact that he and 19-year-old Paul Kranz scored three out of four goals in the away win at the age of 22 is also no coincidence. “The coach gives the young players self-confidence and explains in many conversations how it can be improved. In addition, it’s just right with us in the team, ”said Tramm.

In addition to Kranz, who was missing against Frankfurt, Marc Schmidpeter also returned to the ice in Kaufbeuren. The newcomer played his first league game for Kassel after a long injury. “For Marc, I am very happy that he is back after the long break. It can be very helpful for us, ”said Kehler.

Huskies want to give presents to themselves

So now Freiburg. The huskies won their first meeting on the second match day in their own hall 1-0 (goal scorer: Marcel Müller). Today they start their journey to Breisgau, about 450 kilometers away. “Both teams have changed since the second matchday. Freiburg haven’t played for a week, but we’re playing the third game in five days, ”said Kehler. Stephan Tramm also looks ahead: “This is a top game and we can expect even more intensity. We want the perfect week with the fourth win in a row. Everyone also wants to put something countable under the tree for Christmas. “

The huskies have time off after the game in Freiburg until Christmas Day on Friday. On December 25th, Tim Kehler asks his team for training in the afternoon before the Lausitzer Füchse visit Kassel on Saturday.
