Former Soviet chess grandmaster Garri Kasparov wrote critically about Putin in his Twitter post:
“It’s a snake that the free world has warmed on its chest and treated like an ally while it has dealt with its corruption.”
Kasparov, a 50-year-old native of Azerbaijan, represented the former Soviet Union for years and made it to the chess grandmaster. From 1985 to 2000, he was a constant world champion.
After ending an active career in 2005, he entered politics and became a major critic of Vladimir Putin. He founded the United Civic Front, was one of the leaders of the liberal opposition movement, and was involved in organizing government protests.

In 2013, he felt acute attacks on his person, so he chose to leave for the United States and applied for Croatian citizenship. “However, my fight against Putin will not end,” Kasparov said at the time, quoting him on the iDnes.cz portal.
After the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014, he declared: “I do not know what the price of an open confrontation with Putin is probably high. In general, it is true in history that the price is higher every day.
Stopping Hitler in 1936 would cost something, but a year later the price would be higher. Even higher in 1938 and late in 1939. “
After Putin’s leadership currently invaded Ukraine and effectively unleashed the war, Kasparov reaffirmed.

“Perfect timing. While the UN Security Council discusses Ukraine, Putin will attack at the same time and start a war against an innocent nation. The world has given Putin eight years to arm himself and prepare as best he can for the attack… “
Former big rival Anatoly Karpov also wrote a list of demands as an appeal to the powerful of this world, as they should unconditionally provide assistance to the Ukrainians.
“Support Ukraine militarily, send them weapons and cyber support. Seize Russian finances and expel the Russians from international institutions.
Cancel Putin’s propaganda, stop spreading this dictator’s lies. And recall Russian ambassadors in their countries, there is no point in communicating with them, “asks Kasparov.
