The police have arrested Karyo (39), the killer of Athiqotul Masha alias Bunda Maya (28), a reciting teacher in Bogor whose body was found in a concrete-covered well behind his own house. Karyo acted alone when killing the mother of two children.
“There is no involvement of other people, the wife of the perpetrator is also not involved. This is purely a single perpetrator,” said Kapolsek Cibinong AKP I Kadek Vemil when talking with detikcom, Thursday (5/11/2020).
The perpetrator’s wife, who was also a domestic helper at the victim’s house, was examined as a witness. The examination was carried out before Karyo was arrested.
“The wife of the perpetrator is one of those we ask for information, as a witness. That was before the perpetrator was arrested,” said Kadek.
Karyo’s sadistic action took place on Sunday (1/11) night. He took advantage of the quiet environment because local residents were attending the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. Mother Maya’s husband, M Kurniawan, was still at the mosque because he was assigned to host the ceremony.
“So the victim went home early, while her husband was still at the mosque. So the perpetrator saw the victim on his way home, then the perpetrator came to the victim’s house. So the perpetrator entered the victim’s house when the victim was already in the house,” said Kadek.
