“I have to commend the boys for a really good performance. It had emotions, pace, we prepared well for Liberec, and although we were physically weaker, that enthusiasm and an excellent final phase led us to a sweet victory,” smiled Jarábek, who returned to Karviná after two and a half years.
“When I finished in Karviná, I wasn’t thrilled. Although we didn’t do well, we had a pretty decent point cushion. But the management decided so and it must be accepted. Now I’m back and I’m glad to be back. It’s closer to home and it’s an honor for a Slovak coach to be able to train in the Czech Republic,” said the coach, who until recently worked for the Montenegrin team FK Dečić Tuzi, where he terminated his contract early because of Karviná.
In the starting line-up against Liberec, he did not make too many changes compared to his predecessors Tomáš Hejdušek or Ľubomír Luhové, who led Slezany in the last round against Slovácko. From the first minute, however, unlike them, he sent Alex Iván into the game and he repaid him with the first goal of the match and an excellent pass to Amar Memič for the fourth goal in the Liberec net.

“I know Alex very well. When I came to train in Sereda, he was just leaving for Trnava. I followed him. He can play from the right and the left, he has a good shot. A very good move by Karviná to get it. He scored a beautiful first goal of the match and that cross, it had European parameters,” he praised the performance of Iván, who from the right touchline in a full run found a teammate from Bosnia who was running in with a centered ball, who scored his first goal in the Czech top flight with his head.
“When you have support from the coach, it’s completely different. Mr. Jarábek believed in me, so I thanked him with a goal and an assist,” smiled Iván, a Slovak footballer with Hungarian roots. “I saw Amar running there, so I looked for him with the ball. He finished great,” Iván praised.
In the end, he added the fifth goal, which is a Karvina league record, after the recording of former Liberec Daniel Bartel by substitute Aboubacar Traoré, who at that moment was moving on the field for less than half a minute.
“The coach told us before the match that Liberec had on their website that they were going to Karviná for three points. He took it very personally and managed to tease us with it. In the three days that he has been with us, not much can be changed. But he established some rules and, above all, he exuded incredible energy, which he transferred to us,” described Bartl.
“We fought for each other, which hasn’t happened in a long time. We won deservedly and I believe that it won’t be just one game like with Zlín and then five more losses. We have a good squad as well as ammunition on the substitutes’ bench, so I believe we will go up the table,” said Bartl.
