Berlin – During the Corona pandemic, Karsten Speck (64, “Ein Kessel Buntes”) struggled with psychological problems. A stay in a clinic helped the actor.

This was preceded by a number of health problems. Speck underwent surgery on his cervical spine and even lost his voice for a short time as a result.
“Because they had to operate from the front through the neck,” he reported in an interview with the magazine “Surrender“. In addition, there was a hernia and kidney stones.
“I suffered from spinal stenosis and had problems with my right hand. I could no longer write or play the piano – a catastrophe for me as an artist,” recalled the troubled TV star.

The operation was successful thanks to the competent surgeon at Berlin’s Charité. But the mental strain was enormous. Karsten Speck decided to pull the ripcord and seek help.
“I wanted to find a key to motivate myself again,” said Speck, explaining his decision to check himself into a psychiatric clinic. In the end, this step turned out to be the right one.

“I learned how to get things back on track, found my motivation and sense of humor again, and since then I have been able to distinguish much better between what is important and what is unimportant in life,” explained the 64-year-old.
During this time, the support of trusted and loved people was indispensable for the former “Ein Kessel Buntes” presenter.
“Without people like my brother and my partner, this wouldn’t have worked,” Speck clarified.

The difficult times had brought him and his partner even closer together, he said. “‘For better or for worse’ is always so easy to say, but when it comes down to it, these words often turn out to be nothing in relationships. For us, my crisis was a litmus test that we passed.”
