Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Ramesh Jharkiholi has resigned over allegations that he sexually abused a young woman by offering her a government job. The controversy erupted after the release of a pornographic video of a minister and a young woman.
Jarkiholy responded that he would prove his innocence and resign out of moral responsibility. However, there are indications that Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and others have been pushing for his resignation ahead of the budget session today. He was the mastermind behind the coup that overthrew the Kumaraswamy-led Dal-Congress government in 2019 and brought the BJP to power.
Meanwhile, the Congress has intensified its protest, pointing out that Jharkhand is saying that Yeddyurappa is corrupt in the video footage. According to the video, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi will replace Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister. The video was released after a young woman at the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation could not get the job promised by Jarki Holly.
