The Congress party has made a strong comeback in Karnataka after their previous alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular) failed to yield positive results in the 2018 Assembly Elections. While the party had faced a series of setbacks in numerous state elections since 2014 – including in Karnataka the last time around – the recent win has rejuvenated Congress workers and leaders. The fact that the party won a majority on its own for the first time in decades has added to the sense of elation.

The BJP, which had won the state convincingly in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and had made inroads since then, lost quite badly in the Karnataka Assembly elections.
