Karlstadt: Nine year old choked while playing

A nine-year-old had an accident last Saturday (14.11.2020) while playing with other children on a former school site in the Laudenbach district of Karlstadt. The boy was injured so badly that he died. An autopsy showed that he had suffocated.

The Wrzburg criminal police have now made a big step forward in their investigations, as reported by the Lower Franconia Police Department and the Wrzburg public prosecutor’s office. In conjunction with all previous knowledge and the statements of witnesses to the incident, the officials assume a tragic accident.

The boy was on Saturday around 4.15 p.m. on the site of the former Laudenbach primary school. The accident happened while he was playing alone with a dog leash that he had brought with him. The nine-year-old was playing on a wall and had the leash around his shoulders.

However, the other end of the line was caught on the hunter’s fence that runs along the wall. When he fell off the wall, the leash pulled around his neck, which eventually led to his being unable to breathe.

It was a “chain of unfortunate circumstances” and no outside participation is assumed.

After the death of a boy late on Saturday afternoon, the investigations of the Wrzburg police force advanced in close coordination with the public prosecutor’s office. Accordingly, the evidence of a tragic accident is growing.

At the request of the public prosecutor’s office in Wrzburg, the judge-ordered autopsy of the nine-year-old took place on Tuesday. As a result, it was found that there was no evidence of outside or violence by third parties and that the child died from suffocation.

The investigations of the Kripo Wrzburg into the exact processes are still ongoing in close coordination with the Wrzburg public prosecutor’s office.
