REPORT: The Karlovy Vary Film Festival attracts the attention of the entire country. However, PrahaIN.cz decided to map the situation in the west of Bohemia even before the start of the famous photo show. We went to the city in the last week of June.
In the first part of the report, we focused on high food prices.
A typical chicken steak with potatoes was around 290 crowns, fried cheese was similar. You can usually pay three hundred crowns for a hamburger or cutlet with mushrooms. We also came across duck with cabbage for 450 crowns or chicken wings with salad for 340 crowns.
The local attendant told us that the prices are standard and they don’t change because of the festival.
In addition to the restaurants, we also visited the famous swimming pool at the Thermal Hotel. Here, too, the entrance fee can be described as high. It costs 2,399 crowns for the whole day for a family. An individual pays 599 crowns for three hours. Even small children are welcome in Thermal. Up to the age of fifteen, they leave 399 crowns for three hours. All-day children’s admission cost 599 crowns.
Overall, we have to describe the environment as very nice, clean, downright refreshing.

Expensive entertainment
Spa wafers became another pride of the city. You will come across them both in several kiosks and in a separate store. We have researched the prices in both mentioned devices.
A short distance from the movie theaters you will come across a corporate store. According to the label, traditional products have a two-hundred-year tradition. There are countless types here and you pay according to weight. The smallest weighs 65 grams and costs 45 crowns. A total of 180 grams costs 75 crowns.
In fact, the prices were identical in a nearby shop with the label Original Karlovy Vary wafers. The shop window boasted a number of specialties and flavors. There was no one inside.
If the family went swimming and bit into a few local delicacies, it would cost them almost three thousand crowns.
