Karlos Vémola’s Loss to Samuel Krištofič at 02 Arena: Pirate’s Spectacular Victory

It was supposed to be a spectacular farewell to the hall, where he experienced several successes, but also one of the bitterest losses in his career. Karlos Vémola’s parting with 02 Arena did not go well for him.

Slovak MMA fighter Samuel “Pirate” Krištofič.

A little more than four years after he lost in the Prague arena to Atillo Végh, the Czech legend fell again with the Slovak.

The Czech veteran, for whom it was supposed to be the penultimate duel in his career, was not enough against Samuel “Pirate” Krištofič in the main preliminary match at the pre-New Year’s Eve tournament of the Oktagon MMA organization.

The pirate, led by Végh, gave Vémol an impressive front-rear combination already in the 1st lap, and the Czech veteran went to the ground.

The match Vémola vs. Kristofič was “in the plan” for a long time, but he succeeded only now. In Prague, fighters battled it out in the federal derby in the agreed weight category up to 88.5 kg.

After losing to Végh, Vémola defeated Slovaks Milan Ďatelinka and Pavel Langer, but was not enough for Krištofič.

“Never doubt yourself!” were the first words of the Pirate, who needed 108 seconds in the 1st round to win over Vémol.

The Vémola vs. Végh in November 2019. The Slovakian, a former champion of the prestigious overseas Bellator league, knocked out an opponent with experience from the elite UFC in a similar manner to the Pirate on Friday night.

Just the revenge of Vémola vs. Végh 2 should be the last duel in the MMA cage for both fighters. The long-awaited duel will take place in June at the Slavia Prague football stadium.

Vlast Čep was unsuccessful, losing to Piotr Wawrzyniak in the 3rd round by TKO. The Pole was a replacement for the injured Patrik Kincl.

The winner of the Tipsport Gamechanger tournament was Bojan Veličković, who in the finals defeated the Greek Andreas Michailidis using the rear naked choke technique in the 3rd round. The Serb received a financial bonus of 300,000 euros.
