Good news for VRT face Karl Vannieuwkerke (50). At UZ Gent he was told that he no longer needs to come for an annual check-up. He has been declared cured of the salivary gland cancer that was discovered in him seven years ago.

“Seven years. Ticket of reassurance and liberation,” writes Karl Vannieuwkerke with a photo of his ticket for an appointment at UZ Gent. The presenter went there for the last time on an annual checkup. Seven years after he was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer, he has now been declared cured. “I have been struck by what a lot of people are going through and I am lucky that the tumor was discovered at an early stage,” he said at the time.
