OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, who left the company last fall, founded a new consumer technology startup in London. The first “smart” devices will appear in the first half of the year.
Carl Pei called his new company Nothing and said that the startup is designed to “remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future.” In December 2020, he was able to raise $ 7 million from a variety of investors, including Reddit co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, and others.
Me: What’s up Carl?
Carl: Nothing.(joke on Twitter)
Having presented his new project today, Karl Pei, however, did not reveal anything concrete. The company is expected to focus primarily on the ecosystem of smart audio devices. According to the founder of the startup, Nothing plans to make the majority of its profits from hardware rather than software subscriptions. Thus, he denied previously circulating rumors that this is a music service.
It’s also worth noting that the European head of Nothing is David Sunmartin, who, according to his LinkedIn profile, served as OnePlus’ director of e-commerce in Europe.
