Karl Lauterbach fell asleep at press conference? That’s behind the video

What’s up with the video on which it seems as if Karl Lauterbach fell asleep?

Berlin – A video clip of the Minister of Health has been buzzing on social networks for days Karl Lauterbach (58) rum, on which the SPD politician is said to have fallen asleep during a press conference. What’s it all about?

In the sequences taken out of context, it looks as if Karl Lauterbach (58, SPD) fell asleep. But this is not the case. © Screenshot / twitter

The short video sequence gives the wrong impression. In the detailed version you can see that Lauterbach is apparently listening intently to the questioner.

Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach and the President of the Robert Koch Institute, Lothar Wieler (60), explain the federal government’s corona policy to the capital correspondents in Berlin at regular intervals. So also on December 22, 2021.

When the chairwoman of the press conference, Angela Wefers, asks the SPD minister a question, his head suddenly pops forward.

A few seconds long clip of this scene is distributed with malicious comments on social media.

But in the detailed sequence (from 55:40 min.) it can be clearly seen that Lauterbach is obviously concentrating on the question: after four seconds, he turns his face in the direction of the questioner, and in order to answer, he completely straightens his head and upper body again.

Lauterbach did not fall asleep, just concentrated on listening.
