One of the main heirs is Lagerfeld’s assistant Sébastien Jondeau.
Exactly one year ago, the fashion world lost one of its greatest: Karl Lagerfeld (1933–2019). The legendary designer died of cancer on February 19, 2019 at the hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. The hamburger was not only a gifted self-portrayal, but also shaped the fashion scene for decades with his creations. Lagerfeld loved to show himself with his muses and, as in the case of Claudia Schiffer (49), even helped them as world-class careers as top models.

His own appearance also made the “big Karl” an icon: high-necked collar, dark sunglasses, black jacket and biker gloves. He always wore a white powdered Mozart braid. An egocentric style that still influences the fashion scene today. The Chanel brand, which ruled Lagerfeld from 1983 to 2019, is in demand like never before, one year after the death of the chief designer.

Heirs still have to wait
But the fashion tsar leaves much more than fashion statements: his legacy amounts to around 800 million euros (equivalent to 850 million francs). The main parts of it go to his assistant Sébastien Jondeau (44) and to his Göttibuben Hudson Kroenig (12). Since the boy is still a minor, his father, ex-model Brad Kroenig (40), will manage his son’s legacy until he is of legal age. However, it will still be a while before the beneficiaries actually receive their shares.

Choupette is said to continue luxury life
The reason for this: Lagerfeld’s will stipulates that his beloved Burmese cat Choupette (9) can continue with his usual luxury life until the end of his life. That means: The four-legged friend can continue to live in Lagerfeld’s country house in the south of France, where he is looked after by a housekeeper and a private chef. The probably richest cat in the world has a Twitter account as well as a company and a bank account and earns her own money: Choupette is also in front of the camera for photo shoots without his owner Karl and has recently even the book rights to her life through her agent sold.
–
All heirs must therefore wait for Choupette’s good or bad. Because only after their death the main part of the inheritance is distributed to all parties. In other words, as long as Choupette lives, only she can get at the mice.
