On Monday, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (JV) instructed the Ministry of Health (MoW) to develop a vaccine availability plan against the SARS-CoV-2 virus-induced disease Covid-19, the Prime Minister’s Office informed.
The VM plan must be submitted to the government within two weeks.
“It is necessary for the responsible industry to be ready to ensure the vaccination of priority groups within a short time after obtaining the vaccine and to inform the general public about the availability of the vaccine,” the representatives of Kariņa’s office explained.
In the resolution, the Prime Minister emphasizes that the vaccine availability plan needs to cover such aspects as the purchase, transportation, storage and distribution of the vaccine among health care institutions for the effective implementation of vaccination of the population.
As reported, 89 cases of Covid-19 were detected in Latvia last day, while three patients died, according to data compiled by SPKC.
2343 Covid-19 tests were performed during the last day, but the proportion of positive cases was 3.8%. The SPCC has previously explained that this figure is considered important in the European Union, as above 4%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.
Three people who had been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 died last day. Two of the deceased patients were in the age group of 85 to 90 years, and another in the age group of 75 to 80 years. So far, 126 people who have been confirmed infected with Covid-19 have died in Latvia.
To date, a total of 10,636 people in Latvia have been confirmed with Covid-19 infection, but 1,515 people have recovered from Covid-19 by 12 November.
