Karim Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia’s top flight with much fanfare during the summer, but his stint at Al-Ittihad in the finals may not last long. According to the Spanish sports daily Marca, the French striker did not attend the training camp and was therefore left out of the event for the tour in Dubai.
Until 2026, Benzema has a valid contact in the rich club from Jeddah. He is supposed to earn 200 million euros per season there. After a few months, however, the fairy tale begins to move towards a somewhat different ending than the one they undoubtedly drew in Saudi Arabia. Perhaps the native of Lyon simply forgot that he and his teammates should report to coach Marcel Gallardo for training on Friday, who, by the way, was replacing Nuno Espirito Santo in November.
