There is less than a month to go before the start of the Champions League round of 16 and Karim Benzema is already thinking about it. The French striker gave statements to Telefoot and, in them, he maintained that the game that Real Madrid will play against PSG will be “special” and “complicated”. In addition to this, he referred to Kylian Mbappé.
The meeting in Paris will confront the leaders of the Spanish and French leagues, with the added presence of Kylian Mbappé at PSG and all the speculation that he could sign for the Whites at the end of this season.
“Champions League matches are always complicated”, Benzema stated in an interview with the television program Telefoot.
“We would have liked another opponent for the round of 16 tie, unfortunately we got Paris”, says the Real Madrid striker. He also stated that he would have preferred a duel with PSG later in the tournament.
The duel against Mbappé
Since Benzema’s return to the France National Team, the Whites’ attacker has been able to put together a strong duo with Kylian Mbappé and they even struck up a friendship.
For this reason, for Karim to face Mbappé will be “special, because we get along, for many things. It’s going to be a good match.”
It should be noted that the Frenchman is the current top scorer in LaLiga Santander with 17 goals. The 34-year-old striker is in his thirteenth season at Real Madrid and is experiencing a great moment in the game.
“I have grown, here I have become a man,” he sums up about his time at the Santiago Bernabéu club.
