Karim Benzema (33) was the best player of the 2019/2020 La Liga season, according to the sports daily MARCA. For his achievements he has now received the Trofeo Alfredo Di Stéfano.

“That means a lot to me,” said Benzema after receiving the individual award. “I am proud and very happy. It is the reward for my work in this club since 2009 and it makes me very satisfied without a doubt.”

Benzema moved from Olympique Lyon to Concha Espina in 2009 for 35 million euros. In the same summer, Cristiano Ronaldo also came to the Bernabeu. CR7 won the Trofeo Alfredo Di Stéfano four times, Lionel Messi even seven times.

It’s the premiere for Benzema. “You have won a lot of individual prizes and it is an honor for me to win in front of these two players,” said the Frenchman enthusiastically.

Benzema wasn’t just in that last season strong on the way (27 goals, eleven assists in 48 games), also in the current season the strong center forward has already scored eleven goals (five assists) in all competitions.

The end of the flagpole is not yet reached when it comes to Benzema. “I make an effort in every training session and every game,” added the striker. “My idea is to show every day that I am worth playing for this club, the best club in the world.”
